Packing Your RV
Tips On Packing Your RV
Traveling and living in tight quarters in an RV can make packing all the items you think you need challenging. Here are some tips on packing your RV. PLEASE NOTE: Any suggestions to organize your items which may allow you to carry more does not negate the fact that there are weight limitations on RVs. Always ensure that you are operating your RV within the manufacturer’s recommended weight restrictions.
- Make sure the items you are packing you really need. With space at a premium, you may have to decide between needs and wants.
- Many of the cabinets in our motorhome, though not tall, can hold taller items than what we want to store in them. I use the “shoe box” size of plastic boxes which stack two high in many of our cabinets. I put a label on both ends as to what is in the box, for example, “Office Supplies” which holds paperclips, rubber bands, return address labels, postage stamps, Post It Notes, etc. Watch the weight of this method especially in overhead cabinets.
- Consider color coordinating all travelers clothes to reduce the number of washloads. For example, you might want to have denim long jeans and/or shorts and khaki colored pants/shorts. All jeans can be washed together and all khaki colored items can be washed together. Color coordinating tops does the same thing plus if you are going to be in a crowded area, you can all wear, say red, shirts and will be easier to see if you get separated.
